NHL news and notes

- Four great players were inducted into the NHL hall of fame today. Is it the best HOF class ever? Maybe. It sure has some names people will be talking about for years. Including Steve Yzerman (long time Red Wings captain), Brett Hull (3rd all time with 741 goals), Luc Robitaille (10th all time with 688 goals), and Brian Leetch (1,028 points, 2 time Norris Trophy winner).

- Congrats to Red Wings coach Mike Babcock for being named the head coach for team Canada in the 2010 Olympics. An official press conference will take place later this week in Montreal. Babcock has a career coaching record of 282-139-71 in the NHL and already has 58 postseason victories. He's lost in two game 7s in the finals: once with Anaheim vs. the Devils in 2003, and this year with the Wings vs. the Pens. But he did win a Stanley Cup in 2008.

-The Flames finally named Brent Sutter their next head coach. Brent's brother Darryl is the GM for Calgary and the two have always kept a close relationship. Brent left as coach of the Devils earlier this month after leading the club to 2 straight playoff births. And 2 straight 1st round exits. Brent wanted to be closer to home and now he'll get his wish.
